Lecture - "The Road To and Through Impressionism"
Thursday, Oct 9 at 6:30 pm

The progression of art history throughout the late 19th century will be described in this lecture. The Pre-Impressionists, or Barbizon painters,  will be covered, up through Manet and then on to the true Impressionists, including Renoir and Monet. Lecturer Fred Dixon and his wife Martha live in Chadds Ford and are avid art collectors. Both served as docents at the Barnes Foundation for 10 years. Mr Dixon will also be signing copies of his book "700 Years of Art History; Pre-Renaissance to Modernism", offered for $35.

Lecture - "American Revolution to Fine Art - Brandywine Valley Reflections"
Saturday, Oct 11 at 2 pm

For more than three centuries, the Brandywine Valley has been the site of world class achievements in art, science and industry, acting as a crucible producing events that altered the course of American history. Topics covered in this lecture include the Brandywine River Museum, historic inns and taverns, the duPont legacy, Valley Forge, and many others. Lecturer Gene Pisasale is an author and Kennett Square resident who has worked as a petroleum geologist and financial analyst in the energy industry. He has written eight books, contributes a regular column entitled "Living History" to the Chester County Press and The Hunt Magazine, and is an approved speaker for the Delaware Humanities Forum.       

Computer Basics for Adults
Class Begins Saturday Oct 18
Join us at the library to learn the basics of using a computer and the internet. Topics covered include hardware, word processing, email, and internet searching. The class will meet on alternating Thursdays from 5 to 6 pm or on alternating Saturdays from 10 am until 12 pm. The class will run for 4 weeks. The Write Group
