Science in the Summer
Science in the Summer is a free science education program sponsored by GlaxoSmithKline that lets children going into grades 2 through 6 experience science hands-on. It is a week-long camp that is held at many libraries throughout the Greater Philadelphia area, including Bayard Taylor. Courses include bioscience, chemistry, simple machines, electricity and oceanography. The course is taught by area science teachers.
Bayard Taylor learns in early spring which topic will be studied and which week during the summer the program will be held at our library. Registration forms are made available to families during the month of May. Parents should fill out a form for each interested child. Children must be entering grades 2 through 6 to participate. Space in the four sessions is limited to 16 participants each, so a lottery is held in early June to determine which children will participate.
